New township on Yamuna Expressway

Yamuna expressway could soon launch a new township spread over 300 acres. The township is proposed to be developed by a realty firm Gaursons which will invest Rs 5,000 crore over the next four years in the project. The Ghaziabad company has bought land from theJaypee Group on the expressway in Greater Noida at a cost of around Rs 1,700 crore.

The land parcel is situated close to Jaypee Group's F1 track, sources said. The Jaypee group has also announced launch of a new township, 'Gaur Yamuna City'.

Transport, traffic officials meet to reduce accidents

NOIDA: In order to devise measures to curb the increasing number of accidents on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and the Yamuna Expressway, the district administration of Gautam Budh Nagar conducted a meeting on Friday with the transport department and the traffic department.
During the meeting, the authorities jointly decided upon a number of steps that would be initiated to lessen fatalities and injuries resulting in the district from road accidents. Metro rail between Noida, Greater Noida by 2017

The Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday announced that a new Metro rail system would be developed between Noida and Greater Noida by 2017.

A detailed project report (DPR) of the 29.707 km stretch, prepared by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), has been submitted to the state government, an official told IANS.

To be developed at the estimated project cost of Rs.5,064 crore, the much-needed Metro link is expected to be commissioned by 2017.

"The DPR is being forwarded to the union ministry of urban development for further action," said Principal Secretary, Infrastructure and Industrial Development Surya Pratap Singh.

"In view of the enormous pressure of passenger traffic on Delhi-Noida route and projected population of over 15 lakh in Noida and around 12 lakh in Greater Noida by the year 2031, a clean and smooth public transport facility, matching the transport infrastructure of Delhi, is urgently required in the area," he said.

Yamuna Expressway under CAG scanner

Yamuna Expressway, the longest 6-lane highway in Uttar Pradesh which connects Agra to Greater Noida, has now come under the scanner of Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG). The 165km highway was built by Jaypee Group (JP) with a total cost of Rs 13,000 crore. According to sources, CAG is preparing the report on the financial anomalies between the land acqusition and the rate at which it was sold off to private builders. This CAG report could be submitted in February's budget secession of Parliament.

Both Mulayam and Mayawati, had allotted the land to Jayppe Group at a cost which was grossly less than the officially determined amount. This gives a whiff of a scam. Farmer leaders said that the UP government should have treaded cautiously in giving land to the private builder at low cost.

In a move that will aid buyers in choosing legally sound projects, the Noida,Greater Noida and Yamuna authorities are planning to upload details of all builders constructing housing projects on their official websites. The decision was taken after Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav directed the authorities to ensure protection for buyers and design a route to evade property-related cheatings.
The chairman of Noida, Greater Noida andYamuna Expressway authorities, Rama Raman, said directions have been issued to start the process to buy server space for the websites to upload property-related details.
